ABSTRACT: "The clocks on the great vault door, upon which depends the safety of the billions of dollars that pass through it annually, have just been set preparatory to closing. The door, one of the most massive and finest of its type in the nation, is 36 inches thick and weights 90,000 pounds, enough to thwart the most ambitious of bank robbers, even were they to be successful in passing through the well-guarded heavy gates leading to the vault room." -- St. Louis Globe-Democrat
