Presents a study prepared by the Division of Research and Statistics of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), located in Washington, D.C. Publication includes a detailed analysis of the causes that led to a large number of bank failures in the 1980s and early 1990s; an evaluation of the legislative, regulatory, and supervisory responses to the failures; and an assessment of the implications for the future in deposit insurance and banking.
