Thomas B. McCabe served as chairman of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from April 15, 1948, to March 31, 1951. As chairman, McCabe supported a strong and independent Federal Reserve System. He also participated in the Treasury-Fed Accord which was an agreement to separate government debt management from monetary policy, laying the foundation for the modern Fed.
