American economist

Andrew Felton Brimmer was a noted United States economist, academic, and business leader who was the first Black American to have served as a governor of the Federal Reserve System. Prior to his service on the Federal Reserve Board, Brimmer worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York as an economist, advised the Sudanese government on the establishment of a central bank, and served as assistant secretary of economic affairs in the U.S. Department of Commerce.
