ABSTRACT: This report contains the findings and recommendations of the committee appointed jointly by The American Bankers Association, the Association of Reserve City Bankers and the Federal Reserve System to make a comprehensive study of the check collection system of the nation. The general objective of the study was to determine whether fundamental improvements could be made in check collection methods and practices to increase the speed and efficiency of check collections for the benefit of the banking system and the general public.
