Th e third annual me eting of the lfational Ad.visory Committee of the
WPA Community Service Program, of which Dr . J ay B. Nash of Hew York University
is ·c hainwn, _will be held. in Washington on October 1 and 2, it was announced
today by Mrs . Florence Ker~~, Assistant WPA Commissioner in charge

Highlight of the t wo- day session will be a luncheon at the \'Thi Jee
House on Thursday, Octo"ber 2, when the group will be the guest of Mrs. Rooseve lt,.
Precedi ng the luncheon, t her e i·:i ll be a general discussion by committee momoors
and Mrs. Roosevelt of the part WP.A should play in thG defense progTam.
Tho puxpose of tho Ad.v5.sory Committee, Mrs. Korr pointed. out, is to
assist in fe.shioning the WPA Community Service Program to meot the widest
needs of the public in tho fields of educa tion, recreat ion, librai~y service
and tho arts , and to indicate general directions which those projects should
take in order to servo the largest :possible number of persons in local
comnruniti os .
