Also excludes all balances held by U.S. commercial banks, money market funds (general purpose and broker/dealer), foreign governments and commercial banks, and the U.S. government. Seasonally adjusted M2 is computed by adjusting its non-Mi component as a whole and then adding this result to seasonally adjusted Ml. Debt of domestic nonfinancial sectors consists of outstanding credit market debt of the U.S. government, state and local overnments and private nonfinancial sectors. Private debt consists of corporate bonds, mortgages, consumer credit including bank loans), other bank loans, commercial paper, bankers acceptances and other debt instruments. The data are derived from the Federal Reserve Board's flow of funds accounts. All data on debt of domestic nonfinancial sectors are presented in month-averaqe form, derived by averaging adjacent month-end levels. These data have also been adjusted to remove statistical discontinuities that may arise in the underlying flow of funds statistics. The presentation of debt data in this release differs, therefore, from the quarterly flow of funds statistics contained in the Federal Reserve releases Z.7 and Z.l. In those releases, published levels of credit market debt are measured on a quarter-end basis and include discontinuities. f i H.6 ( 5 0 8 ) Table 3 MONEY STOCK MEASURES Billions of dollars Seasonally adjusted Ml Period ending 13-week average 4-week average M3 M2 week average 13-week average 4-week average week average 13-week average 4-week average week average 792.8 794.6 792.6 3216.0 3228.6 3235.3 4038.0 4045.8 4047.4 FEB. 5 12 19 26 793.6 794.5 795.3 796.4 795.1 796.2 797.6 800.7 798.5 798.9 800.5 804.8 3220.0 3224.1 3228.2 3232.5 3234.5 3240.6 3246.2 3252.7 3246.8 3249.3 3253.3 3261.3 4040.9 4043.3 4045.8 4048.8 4049.2 4053.2 4057.3 4062.5 4058.9 4060.0 4062.9 4068.0 MAR. 5 12 19 26 797.6 798.4 799.2 799.8 802.8 803.7 804.2 804.2 806.9 802.5 802.5 804.8 3236.5 3240.6 3244.3 3247.7 3257.5 3261.5 3264.9 3267.8 3265.9 3265.5 3267.0 3272.6 4051.1 4053.2 4055.1 4057.1 4064.9 4066.2 4067.0 4067.2 4068.6 4065.4 4066.1 4068.5 APR. 2 9 16p 23p 800.4 801.2 802.4 803.2 804.4 805.3 807.3 807.5 807.9 806.0 810.4 805.6 3251.1 3255.1 3259.2 3262.8 3268.4 3270.8 3273.4 3274.9 3268.4 3275.2 3277.4 3278.6 4058.6 4060.8 4063.7 4065.8 4065.2 4067.3 4071.1 4072.4 4060.8 4073.6 4081.6 4073.6 1990-JAN. 29 Not seasonally adjusted Ml Period ending 1990-JAN. 29 13-week average 4-week average M2 week average 13-week average 4-week average M3 week average 13-week average 4-week average week average 802.5 802.7 774.6 3225.9 3241.6 3215.4 4049.6 4055.9 4026.8 FEB. 5 12 19 26 802.3 802.1 801.6 801.0 793.8 788.2 786.1 787.5 794.0 789.9 785.9 780.1 3228.9 3231.8 3234.4 3237.4 3236.1 3233.5 3234.9 3240.6 3241.7 3241.5 3241.1 3238.1 4050.9 4051.8 4052.6 4053.4 4050.0 4046.0 4046.1 4050.8 4052.6 4054.5 4050.6 4045.4 MAR. 5 12 19 26 800.9 800.3 799.2 797.3 789.0 791.0 793.1 794.5 800.0 798.0 794.1 785.7 3240.1 3242.7 3245.4 3247.4 3245.3 3251.0 3256.2 3260.3 3260.6 3264.3 3261.6 3254.7 4054.5 4055.4 4056.6 4057.2 4054.2 4057.5 4060.5 4063.4 4066.3 4067.5 4062.8 4057.1 APR. 2 9 16p 23p 795.4 794.9 796.3 798.0 795.0 801.2 810.2 818.0 802.2 822.8 830.0 817.0 3249.6 3252.7 3256.4 3260.1 3263.9 3273.8 3283.4 3290.5 3274.8 3303.9 3300.0 3283.3 4057.8 4059.6 4061.9 4063.4 4064.8 4072.8 4081.9 4085.2 4071.6 4099.6 4099.3 4070.3 Note: Special caution should be taken in interpreting week-to-week changes in money supply data, which are highly volatile and subject to revision. p—indicates preliminary data.
