CONDITION OF FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS

$1,355,000,000, a decrease of
of $220,000,000 compared with

of Federal r e s e r v e bank c r e d i t o u t s t a n d i n g during
r e p o r t e d by the Federal r e s e r v e banks, was
$44,000,000 compared with the p r e c e d i n g week and
the corresponding week i n 1930.

On J a n u a r y 7 t o t a l r e s e r v e bank c r e d i t amounted to $1,24-8,000,000, a dec r e a s e of $125,000,000 f o r the week, This d e c r e a s e corresponds with d e c r e a s e s
of $107,000,000 i n money i n c i r c u l a t i o n and $27,000,000 i n member bank^reserve
balances and an i n c r e a s e of $9 >000,000 i n monetary gold s t o c k , o f f s e t ^in p a r t
by a decrease of $14,000,000 i n Treasury currency and an i n c r e a s e of ip5,000,000
i n unexpended c a p i t a l f u n d s , e t c .
Holdings of b i l l s d i s c o u n t e d i n c r e a s e d $4l,000,000 d u r i n g the week, tne
p r i n c i p a l changes being i n c r e a s e s of $lb,000,000 a t tne F e d e r a l Reserve Bank of
San F r a n c i s c o , $3,000,000 a t New York, $7,000,000 a t Chicago and $5,000,000
each a t A t l a n t a and Kansas C i t y . The System's h o l d i n g s of b i l l s bought i n open
market d e c l i n e d $99,000,000, of U. S. bonds $4q,000,000 and of Treasury n o t e s
$25,000,000, while h o l d i n g s of Treasury c e r t i f i c a t e s and b i l l s i n c r e a s e d
$4,000,000.
