ABSTRACT: Millions of voices once repeated cautionary tales of the Great Depression. Every family had at least one member whose mission was to impart the lessons of that bitter time. But the voices have begun to fade, and the day is approaching when no one will be left to remind us that "good health" and a "steady job" are things that ought not to be taken for granted. With that in mind, the following pages recap the two most significant events of the Great Depression: the stock market crash of 1929 and the Bank Holiday of 1933.
