The Congressional Oversight Panel was created by Congress in 2008 to review the current state of financial markets and the regulatory system. In addition to holding hearings and reviewing official data on the financial crisis, the Congressional Oversight Panel was responsible for producing special reports to evaluate market transparency, oversee Treasury's actions, assess the impact of spending to stabilize the economy, and ensure effective foreclosure mitigation efforts.
