President, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, 1962 – 1966

Harry A. Shuford became the sixth president of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis on October 1, 1962, succeeding Delos C. Johns. Shuford joined the Federal Reserve System in 1948 as counsel for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. He became vice president and general counsel in 1952 and first vice president in 1959. In 1961, he was named president of the St. Louis Fed and served the remainder of his predecessor's five-year term, resigning in January 1966. (Source: Federal Reserve History)
