David P. Eastburn served as president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia from March 1, 1970, to January 31, 1981. Eastburn began his professional career at the Philadelphia Fed in 1942, working first as a clerk in the research department then later as an economist. He rose steadily up the ranks at the Reserve Bank, holding a number of positions throughout the years, including a temporary position with the Board of Governors from 1950-1951 in which he administered Federal Reserve regulations regarding selective credit controls that were imposed during the Korean War.
