Block, Herbert, 1903-1988

German-American economist

Herbert Block studied economics and received his doctorate in 1926. In 1932 he worked as a consultant for the League of Nations and emigrated to Spain in 1934, where he taught as a lecturer at the University of Madrid until the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. In 1940, he emigrated to the United States, where he worked as a research assistant at the New School for Social Research until 1944 and carried out studies on economic policy in Nazi Germany. After the end of World War II, Block worked in the State Department as a specialist in economic policy in the Soviet Union until his retirement in 1973. (Source: Wikipedia)
