ABSTRACT: The papers of Charles Sumner Hamlin primarily relate to the formation and early history of the Federal Reserve System. Charles S. Hamlin served as the first Governor (now Chair) of the Federal Reserve Board from August 10, 1914, to August 9, 1916, and remained on the Board until February 3, 1936. Included are diaries, scrapbooks, indexes, incoming and outgoing correspondence, speeches, reports, newspaper clippings, brochures and other printed matter, unpublished writings, and other original and secondary material.
