Media Advisory: Congressional Oversight Panel to
Hold Hearing in New York City on Corporate and
Commercial Real Estate Lending

The Congressional Oversight Panel announced today that it will hold a hearing on
Thursday, May 28, at 10:00 am in the Rosenthal Pavilion at New York University. The
hearing, "The Impact of Economic Recovery Efforts on Corporate and Commercial Real
Estate Lending," will explore the current state of commercial and industrial lending,
focusing particularly on the effectiveness of government efforts to restart credit markets.
The members of the Congressional Oversight Panel will hear testimony from a variety of
experts involved in this issue, including representatives from government, businesses, and
banks.
The panel is currently scheduled to hear from the following witnesses:
Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney (NY-14) Chair, Joint Economic Committee, U.S.

Til Schuermann, Vice President, Bank Supervision, Federal Reserve Bank of New York

Jeffrey DeBoer, CEO, The Real Estate Roundtable
Mark Rogus, Senior Vice President and Treasurer, Corning Incorporated

The Congressional Oversight Panel was created to oversee the expenditure of Troubled
Asset Relief Program (TARP) funds authorized by Congress in the Emergency Economic
Stabilization Act of 2008 (EESA) and to provide recommendations on regulatory reform.
It is required by law to assess the ���effectiveness of foreclosure mitigation efforts and
the effectiveness of the program from the standpoint of minimizing long-term costs to the
taxpayers and maximizing the benefits for the taxpayers. ��� The Oversight Panel
members are: Congressman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), Richard H. Neiman, Superintendent
of Banks for the State of New York, Damon Silvers, Associate General Counsel of the
AFL-CIO, former US Senator John E. Sununu (R-NH), and Elizabeth Warren, Leo
Gottlieb Professor of Law at Harvard Law School.
