fiPA Purchases of Industrial Supplies Total $83,799,672 as of March 1, 1936.

Lumber, cement, cast iron pipe and brick are among the leading
commodities being purchased by the works Progres s Administration in its nationwide work program, Administrator Harry L. Ho pkins announced today.
Materials going into the construction of roads and streets lead in
order of amounts purchase d, followed by public building projects, publicly
owned and ope rated utilities and recreational facilities.
Buying materials at an average of 1'\piJroximately $20,000,000 a month
during January &7.d February, WP.A records show a total purchase of industrial
supplies of $83,799,672, as of March 1.
The figures would have shown an even higher total, it was pointed
out, had tne 'ifPA not taken over in many places throughout the country tools
and supplies left from the CNA and FERA activities.
Tables are attached showing purchases made by type of material and
type of projects.

Included in these figure s a re both Federal and sponsors 1

contributions.
