for projects sponsored by the Army and $1,745 , 777 for projects sponsored b:,- the lfo.:v;<,' •

the Coas t Guard and for miscel l aneous defense projects in r egular WPA
state programs .
One of the lar gest single defense projects to be approved
during the entire six months period. was ap1Jroved in December for the
Texas National Guard Armory Beard .

This calls f0r the expenditure

of $7 , 540 , 874 for the construction and improvement of armories and
other National Guarc" facilities at a number of points throughout the
State .

Mr . Hunter :po :\.nted. out , however , that each construction unit

under this :9r0ject will be acted uy.,on separately in Washington and
that ap:provo,l of the project should not be t2.ken to mean thn.t the
ent ire arm0r ~r building program is t o be launched immediately by the
Texas i,?A .
The l-;aval Air Station at Capo May , New Jersey , will benefit
from extei1sive improvements as tho result of two pro.jects totaling

$657 , 597 approved late i n December .

One project for $242 , 007 calls
