C. --- May 4th, 5th & 6th. · Exhibits and actual demonstrations portraying the full range of women 1 s, )rofessional, eJ:1er:sency education and res earch projects throughout the nation under Ghe Works Pro gress Admini s tration will be presented at a meeting of directors from Ghe 48 states, New York City and t he District of Columoia with the six r egional di~ectors of this division in Wa shington May 4, 5 and 6, Harry L. Ho~kins, Works ?rogress Admi n istrator, will address the opening session of the conference, to be rnld at the Mayflower Hotel, Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt and Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins also :i.re incl 1.1.ded on the list of speakers for the three-day program, with Frank Bane, ~xecutive director of the Social Security Board, and Miss Mary Anderson, director if the Women's Bureau of the Department of Labor. The meeting has been called by Mrs. Ellen S. Woodward, Assistant Adminis~ator in charge of the Women's Division of the Works Progress Administration, to ~onsider plans for a future program after reviewing and evaluating accomplishments ;o date. There will also be a display of ha,ndcraft articles produced by men and women who have taken advant~~ge of free instruction from Works Progress Administrat i0n teachers on recreation and adult education projects. The fight of the Works Prr 0 ss .Administra tion on malaria will be illustrat- ed by microscopic work, slides displaying malarial cultures and other features under the direction of a public heal th nurse. Transcrip tion of books into Braille will call attention to another tYPe of Works Progress Administrat ion project. .An associated exhibit will include detailp of a new project in Baltimore, Md., designed to furnish relief maps for the blind. :Jhese w~ll outline the thirteen original colonies and other geographica l units for schools and institutes for the sightless. Among other exhibits will be photographs e•nd posters illustratin g nursery school, hot s chool lunch, museum, clerical and surveF projects. One booth will present in detail the method of repairing books for p,1blic libraries and schools. Activities in each state will be outlined in reports by the various state directors. Special problems, most of which will be distuseed in preliminary mee tings of regional directors with the state division heads upon their arrival in Washington, also will be considered at the general conference, The following regional directors of the Division ~f Women 1 s and Profe ssional Projects will make reports to the conference on their re~·ions: 1'.rs.
