The largest single project in the gToup , calling for an
e:z:penditure of $905 , 6~6 , will provide i mproved facilities for t he
rrru.nici:pal airport at Battle Creek, Michigan.

The work includes

excavating , grad.j_ng , construc tion of runways and taxi strips and the
installation of drainage structures .
Extensive improvements to t he Atlanta , Georgia , airport is
contemplated in a project val ued at $590 , 101.

Runways will be extended

and_ paved, new taxi strips laid and adcti tional lighting facilities
instal l ed.

Other large civil airpor t projects are locat ed a t Traverse

City, Michigan , cos t ing $406 , 097 , and in Cononine County, Arizona,
near Valle , costing $556 , 926 .
Two important airport project s are located at Army posts .
At the Air Corps Specialized Fl yin{; School , Eglin Fi eld. , Floricl_a,
$236 , 813 of WPA funds will be spent in the construc t ion of runways ,
warm- up aprons and taxi strips .

A new airport will be built at Fort

H. G. Wright , off the eastern t ip of Long Is l and , at a cost of $245 , 533.
Two of t he new project s are located in t he District of
Columb i a area a..rid nearb;y- K'3.l· yland.

One project for $20 , 126 calls for

the improvement of buildings and grou..>ids at :E'ort !-iyez\

Virginia.

The other provides for work a t the Naval Radio Station and the
Engine0r ing Experiment Station at tho Naval .Academy, Annapolis , Naryland ,
at a cost of $87, 041 .
