FOR RELIEF DISTRIBUTION

Harry L. Hopkins, Works Progress Administrator, announced tod:-,y the
purchase of $10, 000 , 000 worth of men ' s, women. 1 s ~nd children 1 s clothing, for
distribution to p eople otherv'l'ise un!:'.b le to buy such clot~ing .
The clot hing will be bought from ma nufacturers in ::.ill parts of the
country, on the bri,sis of immediate delivery .

The distribution will be hruidled

by St8.te Departmen ts of Public Welfn.re .
Mr. Eopkins stated that this would make possible immediate r E:suniption
of employment in clothing- making industries through the absorption of existing
inventori es .
