More than 55 percent of Florida's WPA project cost to be spent for highways,
roads and public buildings.

Highw~ys, farm-to-market roads, streets and public buildings,
both governmental and educational will account for 56.8 percent of the
total money to be spent for Works Progress .Administration projects in
Florida, according to an announcement made today by Harry L. Hopkins,
WP.A administrator.

An additional 25.5 percent will be spent for housing,

parks D.lld playgrounds, flood control and other conservation, water supply
and sewer systems, electric utilities and transportation •
.A listing by types and cost of projects shows that of the total
of $13,378,441 to be spent by the WP.A as of December 31, 1935, the following
accounted for the bulk of the money:
Highways, farm-to-market roads, $5,504,971, or 41.2 percent; public

buildings, $2,082,364, or 15.6; housing $43,836, or 0.3 percent; parks and
playgrounds $962,649, or 7.2 percent; flood control and other conservation,
$171,172, or 1.3 percent; water supply and sewer systems, $885,455, or 6.6
percent; electric utilities, $32,229, or 1.2 percent, and .transportation,
$1,324,529, or 9.9 percent.
The remaining 17.7 percent of project costs will be divided between
women and white collar and other professional and technical unemployed workers.
