READOUT: Treasurer Chief Malerba Convenes Treasury Tribal
Advisory Committee

WASHINGTON – Today, Chief Lynn Malerba, Treasurer of the U.S., hosted a meeting of the Treasury Tribal
Advisory Committee (TTAC) with the TTAC’s Designated Federal Officer Krishna Vallabhaneni. The sevenmember committee meets regularly and advises the Secretary on significant matters impacting Native American
communities.
Chief Malerba provided remarks about Treasury’s efforts to strengthen its nation-to-nation relationships with
Tribes and gave related departmental updates to TTAC Members. Following remarks, Tribal leaders shared
some of their top priorities, including Tribal tax priorities and pensions, and the Committee leadership received
updates from TTAC Subcommittees. The Committee also discussed the new proposed rules released today by
the Treasury Department regarding how tribes can benefit from the elective pay provisions of the Inflation
Reduction Act.
TTAC is composed of three members nominated by Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen, two nominated by
the House Committee on Ways and Means, and two nominated by the Senate Committee on Finance.
