Nelson convened Treasuryʼs third roundtable with representatives of nongovernmental organizations, international organizations, and U.S. government implementers to discuss the facilitation of legitimate humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. During the roundtable, Under Secretary Nelson reiterated Treasuryʼs commitment to mitigating and responding to civilian harm as both a moral and strategic imperative. He described how Treasury has engaged humanitarian organizations and foreign partners to ensure that U.S. counter-terrorism actions do not interfere with humanitarian assistance to Gaza. Under Secretary Nelson also announced the publication of public guidance for the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people. The guidance lays out in plain language the available humanitarian-related in Treasuryʼs counter terrorism sanctions and clearly describes the activity covered by these authorizations.
