WASHINGTON– Neal S. Wolin was confirmed by the United States Senate late Monday to serve as the Deputy Secretary of the U.S.
Department of the Treasury.
"I am thrilled to have Neal return to the department. Neal brings a deep knowledge of the Treasury Department and strong managerial
experience in both the private and public sectors, and I look forward to working closely with Neal at this critical moment in our nation's
history."said Secretary Tim Geithner.
In February, Wolin was named Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Counsel to the President for Economic Policy. Wolin served
as General Counsel of the Department of the Treasury from 1999- 2001 and as Deputy General Counsel from 1995-1999. He previously
served as Executive Assistant to the National Security Advisor, Deputy National Security Advisor and Deputy Legal Advisor to the National
Security Council.
From 2001 to 2008, Wolin served at The Hartford Financial Services Group, Inc., most recently as President and Chief Operating Officer
for Property and Casualty Operations and previously as General Counsel. Earlier in his career, he also worked in private law practice at
Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering in Washington, DC.
Wolin is a graduate of YaleCollege, the University of Oxford, and YaleLawSchool.
