Programs for National
Farm Forums Are Announced. . .
Two nationally recognized Farm
Forums w ill be held in Des Moines
and Minneapolis during the next three
weeks. The Des Moines Chamber of
Commerce w ill host its 32nd Annual
National Farm Institute on February
12 and 13 at Hotel Fort Des Moines.
The Greater Minneapolis Chamber of
Commerce w ill hold its 1970 Farm
Forum on March 5 at Hotel Radisson.
In Des Moines, a,n impressive
group of speakers w ill center on the
theme “ The 70’ s . . . Challenge and

At the Farm Forum in Minneapolis,
Clarence D. Palmby w ill be the
luncheon speaker. He is assistant
secretary under Mr. Hardin. His
topic w ill be “ The 70’s —A Decade
of Confrontation.” Congressman A l­
bert H. Quie, First District, Minne­
sota, w ill give a Congressional view
and Senator Birch Bayh, Indiana, w ill
present a Senatorial view of the
confrontation theme. This theme w ill
examine “ public policy and govern­
mental action relating to pollution,
consumerism, tight money, prices of
farm products, education and rural
development.”

WALFORD: M. C. Erusha celebrated
his 50th year in banking on January
3, all of it with Farmers Savings
Bank of Walford. For many years
he was the only employee of the
bank. He is pres, of the bank at
Walford, as w ell as being pres, of
Chelsea Savings at Chelsea and
Solon State at Solon. His older son,
Don, is exec. v.p. at the Chelsea
and ■Solon banks. His younger son,
Robert C., is exec. v.p. at Walford
and a son-in-law, E. R. Kaiden is
cash, there. A dinner attended by
directors and staff of the banks, the
Erusha children and grandchildren,
and a number of friends, was held
in Mr. Erusha’s honor.
WINTERSET: Farmers, and Merchants
State promoted Irvin W. Martens to
cash, to fill the vacancy created by
the retirement of Charles Butterfield.

v.p. of Security Natl, since last
April, has been named pres., suc­
ceeding Don Carney, who becomes
chmn., and J. Kernan Weckbaugh,
