Minutes of actions taken by the Board of Governors of the Federal
Reserve System on September 8, 1953, were approved unanimously.
Letter to Mr. Leach, Chairman, Conference of Presidents of the
Federal Reserve Banks, c/o Federt0. Eeserve Bank of Richmond, prepared in
accordance with action taken .stt the meeting on August 23, 1953, ar.reading as follows:
The Board would like to suggest that the following topic
be placed on the agenda for discussion at the forthcoming Conference of Presidents.
"Consideration of the general question of reimbursement to the Federal Reserve Banks for expenses of
Fiscal Agency operations, with special reference to
the question whether all Fiscal Agency operations
for the Treasury and other Government departments
and agencies should be performed by the Reserve
Banks without charge to the Government."
Among other considerations, the question probably would
involve discussion of the basis on which any additional Fiscal
Agency functions would be undertaken by the Federal Reserve
Banks.




Approved unanimously.
