1439 A meeting of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve SYstem was held in Washington on Wednesday, September 29, 1943, at 11:00 a.m. PRESENT: Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Ransom, Vice Chairman Szymczak McKee Draper Evans Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Morrill, Secretary Bethea, Assistant Secretary Carpenter, Assistant Secretary Clayton, Assistant to the Chairman The action stated with respect to each of the matters hereinafter referred to was taken by the Board: The minutes of the meeting of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System held on September 28, 1943, were approved unanimously. Memorandum dated September 24, 1943, from Mr. Goldenweiser, Director of the Division of Research and Statistics, recommending that Mrs. Dorothy C. Stevens be appointed as a clerk-stenographer in. that Division on a temporary basis for an indefinite period, with basic salary at the rate of $1,440 per annum, effective as of the clate upon which she enters upon the performance of her duties after having passed satisfactorily the usual physical examination, with the understanding that she may later be recommended for a permanent apPotntment if her work proves satisfactory and the need for permanent help develops. Approved unanimously. 1440 9/29/43 -2Memorandum dated August 26, 1943, from Mr. Morrill, recommend- ing that the basic salary of Miss D. Jeanne Krieger, general assistant in the Correspondence and Publications Section of the Secretary's Ofbe increased from N,600 to $2,800 per annum. Approved unanimously, effective October 1, 1943. Memorandum dated September 25, 1943, from Mr. Paulger, Chief Of the Division of Examinations, submitting the resignation of Julius B. Richner as an Assistant Federal Reserve Examiner, to become effec- tive as of the close of business on September 27, 1943/ and recommending that the resignation be accepted as of that date. The resignation was accepted. Memorandum of this date from Mr. Morrill, submitting the resignation of Mrs. Josephine G. Rohrer as a page in the Secretary's °ffice, and recommending that it be accepted as of the close of business on September 23, 1943. The resignation was accepted. Telegram to the officers at the Federal Reserve Banks who slibmit reports to the Board with respect to their pay roll savings Plans, reading as follows: "Relets S-429 and S-435 (Loose-Leaf Service #3949.1), (with respect to the reporting of detailed information on the sales of defense savings bonds under pay roll savings plans) it will be greatly appreciated if you will wire 1441 9/29/43 -3- "figures for September and subsequent months on first day of following month, or as soon thereafter as prac— ticable."
