The Vice Governor reported the reserve positions of the several Federal Reserve banks as at close of business August 30th. Letter dated August 25, from the Federal Reserve Agent at San Francisco, requesting the Board to authorize the appointment of a number of enaployees as assistant examiners for the purpose of assisting the State BankDepartment of California in an examination of the Los Angeles Trust aid Savings Bank and its fifty branches to be begun September 8, 1922. Upon moti en of Mr. Miller, the Board voted to have the Vice Governor wire the Federal Reserve Agent at San Francisco that the Board before acting on hiF request desires to be informed whether the State Banking Superintendent in asking for the assistance of the Federal Reserve Bank in the proposed examination of the Los Angeles Trust and Savings Bank and its fifty branches, has stated in writing that his force is inadequate to make a satisfactory examination and requestine. the Federal Reserve Agent also to n.ive his own opinion as to rhether the State Banking Department without assistance from the Federal Reserve Bank is in a position to make a simultaneous examination of the Los Angeles Trust and Savings Bank and its branches, which will be satisfactory to the Federal Reserve Agent. Upon further motion of Mr. Miller, it was voted that determinat ion of the matter of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco participating in the proposed examination of the Los Angeles Trust and Savings Bark and. its branches be left to the Executive committee with power. -2Letter dated August 29th, from the Federal Reserve Agent at Atlanta, requesting termination of the appointment of Mr. J. B. Tutwiler as Federal Reserve Examiner, in view of Mr. Tutwiler having resigned his position with the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, effective September 21, 1922. Approved. Letter dated September 1, from the Deputy Comptroller of the Currency during advising of certain changes in the natioml bank examining force, made the month of August, 1922. Not ed. Letter dated August 31, from the Chief of the Division of Analysis and Research, recommending the discontinuance of the services of Miss Ruth Peterson, in view of her failure to report for duty on September 1st, 1922, the date of expiration of a period of six weeks' leave without pay. The Board voted that 7'.iss Peterson be given an extension of leave without pay until September 15th, and to drop her name from the Board's rolls on that date if she should fail to report for duty, or does not give a satisfactory explanation of her failure to report for duty September 1st.
