I939 Minutes of actions taken by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System on Monday, November 9, 1953. The Board met in executive session in the Board Room at 10:00 a.m. PRESENT: Mr. Martin, Chairman Mr. Szymczak Mr. Evans Mr. Vardaman Mr. Mills Mr. Robertson Following the executive session Chairman Martin informed the Secretary that the Board had discussed the position that it should take with respect to the appointment of Mr. Gentry, now First Vice President, as President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and that it was agreed unanimously that no letter should be written on the matter at this time but that Chairman Martin should call Chairman Parten on the telephone and say to him that he should inform the board of directors of the Bank at its next meeting that the Board of Governors would not be willing to approve the appointment of Mr. Gentry as President of the Bank for the remainder of the term ending February 29, 1956. The meeting then adjourned.
