33 A meeting of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System was held in Washington on Tuesday, January 8, 1946, at 11:00 PRESENT: Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Ransom, Vice Chairman Szymczak McKee Evans Mr. Carpenter, Secretary Mr. Connell, General Assistant, Office of the Secretary Mr. Morrill, Special Adviser Mr. Thurston, Assistant to the Chairman The action stated with respect to each of the matters herein— after referred to was taken by the Board: The minutes of the meeting of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System held on January 7, 1946, were approved unani— mously. Memorandum dated January 5, 1946, from Mr. Vest, General Attorney, recommending that Frederic Solomon, who has been on mili— tary leave, be reinstated as an Attorney in the Legal Division, with salary at the rate of $7,700 per annum, effective as of the date upon which he enters upon the performance of his duties after having passed the usual physical examination. Approved unanimously. Memorandum dated January 4, 1946, from Mr. Thomas, Director of the Division of Research and Statistics, recommending that Miss Mary Hedda Bohlin, who has been on military leave, be reinstated as a Research Assistant in that Division, with salary at the rate of 34 1/8/46 -2- $2,650 per annum, effective as of the date upon which she enters upon the performance of her duties after having passed the usual physical examination. Approved unanimously. Memorandum dated December 4, 1945, from. Mr. Thomas, Director of the Division of Research and Statistics, recommending that Mrs. Marie S. Schiff be appointed as a clerk in that Division on a temporary basis for an indefinite period subject to a satisfactory check of her references and also subject to proof that she is a citizen of the United States, with salary at the rate of $1,836 per annum, effective as of the date upon which she enters upon the performance of her duties after having passed the usual physical examination. The memorandum stated that Mrs. Schiff would become a member of the Federal Reserve Retirement System. Approved unanimously. Memorandum dated January 5, 1946, from Mr. Thomas, Director Of the Division of Research and Statistics, submitting the resignation of Mrs. Ruth L. Weisbrod, a Research Assistant in that Division, and recommending that the resignation be accepted as of the close of business January 18, 1946, and that a lump sum payment be made for the annual leave remaining to her credit at that time. The resignation was accepted as recommended. 35 1/8/46 —3— Letter to Mr. Flanders, President of the Federal Reserve Bank Of Boston, reading as follows: "In view of the circumstances described in your letter of December 28, 1945, the Board will interpose no objection to the Reserve Bank's changing from a weekly pay schedule to a biweekly pay schedule, under which salary would be paid for one week in advance every payday."
