commercial banks. In April reports covered about 49,000 contracts on
new cars, $2,000 purchased and 17,000 direct, and 29,000 contracts on used
cars, 19,000 purchased and 10,000 direct. Data are not comparable with
previous releases since composition of the group of banks changes from
month to month.
