Note:-—Total national sample i s comprised of some 115 s t o r e s (varies s l i g h t l y among departments) of the approximately 350 stores regularly reporting monthly departmental f i g u r e s . During March and April changes from a year ago r e f l e c t i n part the f a c t t h a t l a s t year Easter was on April 18 while t h i s year i t w i l l be on April 10. For t h i s reason i t i s estimated t h a t i n comparison with l a s t year an allowance should be made f o r an increase i n sales of about a per cent f o r the month of March as a whole and a corresponding decrease f o r the month of April as a whole.
