A description of weekly indexes appears in Bulletin for August 1962, Weekly indexes at the district and city levels are published by several of the Federal Reserve Banks. - FEDERAL statistical RESERVE release 1*700 H.8.b H.8.b WEEKLY DEPARTMENT STORE SALES - SELECTED CITIES AND AREAS NOTICE OF REVISED FORMAT Responsibility for preparation of national figures on weekly department store sales has been transferred to the Bureau of the Census and, beginning next week, that agency's Weekly Retail Trade Report will include data for department stores as.a regular feature. Those persons interested in this comprehensive report on retail sales should write to the Publications Section, Bureau of the Census, Washington, D.C. for further information. Although the Board of Governors will discontinue publication of national figures on weekly department store sales, it is planned to continue for the time being that part of the H.8.b report devoted to the individual city and metropolitan area sales data compiled by the 12 Federal Reserve Banks. Next week's report will be on this new basis.
