Due; to the untimely death of the president, department
store sales were greatly affected in the last two weeks of November,
resulting in 'a lower than expected monthly index figure. The
seasonally adjusted index for November is estimated at 117
(1957-59=100) up 4 points from last month (October sales affected
substantially by unseasonal weather) but down 1 point from November
a year ago.
