REVISION OF FOREIGN RELATED COMPONENT OF H.8
Data for foreign-related banking inst1tut1ons shown on the H.8 have been
corrected for two errors. One of the errors affects data from the begLnnLng
of 1984 to date; the other affects 1985 data only. A revised H.8 for April 3
is shown on the back of the April 10 release. The series most strongly
affected are total assets, other assets, and other l1abil1t1es, each of which
has been revised downward by $14.1 b1l11on back to the beginning of 1984,
owing to the correction of Internat1onal Banking Facility adjustments 1n
the foreign related component. In addit1on, 1985 data have been revLsed
downward for a broader range of items, 1ncludLng a $232 mill1on decl1ne in
commercial loans, and a $957 million decline 1n total assets. This revision
corrects for recent overestimation of the foreign-related component following
merger of a foreign-owned investment company wLth a related U.S. domestLcally
chartered commercial bank.
Revised data for last Wednesdays of the month from 1984 through March, 1985
may be obtained from the Banking SectLon, Federal Reserve Board, Washington,
D.C., 20551.
