FEDERAL RESERVE statistical release

April

6, 1987

The attached H.8 release for March 11, 1987 shows data benchrnarked to the
June, 1986 call report: earlier releases were benchmarked to the June,
1985 call report. In order to enable users to compute the week-to-week
change, as well as to show the size of the revision, an H.8 release for
March 4, calculated on the new basis, is also included with this week's
release. '
H.8 data for small banks and foreign related institutions are estimated
from sample data which are benchmarked to universe data provided by the
quarterly call report. Periodically, these data must he updated by
benchmarking the estimates to .~rore recent call reports. The benchmark
reflected in this week's release caused revisions in the H.8 nata from
July, 1985 to date: revised data for this period are available from
the Banking section, Federal Reserve Board, Washington, D.C., 20551.
