DEMAND DEPOSITS, CURRENCY, AND RELAXED ITEMS

Money supply rose $1.6 billion in September to a .seasonally adjusted
monthly average level of $1643 billion. This expansion xeflected shafcp increases
in demand deposits in the middle of September, followed by some declftie at the
end of the month. Time deposits adjusted increased $1^4 billion,further in
September, the smallest increase since June.

than those due to domestic coonercial hanks and the U. S, Governnient, less cas^
items in process of collection and Federal Reserve float; (2) foreign demand Balances
^at Federal Reserve Banks; and (3) currency outside the Treasury, the' Federal Reserve
and the vaults of all commercial hanks. Time deposits adjusted are time deposits at
all cotmaercial hanks other than those due to domestic commercial banks and the U. S.
Goverument*
