The seasonally adjusted money supply averaged $193.0 billion in December,
about $1.0 billion higher than in the preceding month. Time and savings deposits
increased $2.4 billion in December on average, about the same as in November. The
rate of expansion in these deposits slowed during December with a substantial decline in the last week of the month.

those due to domestic commercial banks and the U . S . Government, less cash items
in process of c o l l e c t i o n and F e d e r a l Reserve float; (2) foreign demand balances n
F e d e r a l Reserve B a n k s ; and (3) currency outside the Treasury, the Federal Reserve
and the vaults of all commercial b a n k s . Time deposits adjusted are time deposits
at all commercial banks other than those due to domestic commercial banks and t he
U.S. Government.
