STATEMENT FOB THE E2ESS B-478 Federal Reserve Board September 3, 1931* For immediate r e l e a s e CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER 3A1JICS IN LEADING CITIES The Federal Reserve Board's c o n d i t i o n statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks in l e a d i n g c i t i e s on September 2 shows increases f o r the week of $33,000,000 in loans and investments, $4$,000/in net demand d e p o s i t s and $13,000,000 in borrowings from Federal r e s e r v e banks, and a decrease of $14,000,000 i n time d e p o s i t s . Loans on s e c u r i t i e s increased $26,000,000 a t r e p o r t i n g banks i n the New York d i s t r i c t , $6,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $29,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks, "All o t h e r " loans i n c r e a s e d $33,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t and $ 4 , 0 0 0 , 0 0 0 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks. Holdings of United S t a t e s Government s e c u r i t i e s declined $28,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t and $32,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks, while holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s in c r e as e d $15,000,000 in the New"York d i s t r i c t and $2,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g banks.
