CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES
The condition statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks i n leading c i t i e s
shows the following p r i n c i p a l changes f o r the week ended August 31* Increases ot

i n New York City. Loans t o brokers and d e a l e r s f o r purchasing or carrying
S t a t e s Government s e c u r i t i e s i n c r e a s e d $270,000,000 m New York Ci y , $3 j

in Chicago, and a t o t a l of $301,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member b a n k s . Loans t o
banks decreased $54,000,000 in New York City but increased i n most of the othe
d i s t r i c t s j t h e r e was a net increase of $40,000,000 a t a l l reporting mem e

"Other loans" increased $5l>000,000.

Holdings of Treasury b i l l s i n c r e a s e d $50,000,000 i n the Cleveland D i s t r i c t
and a t o t a l of $144,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings of urn.tea
