CONDI T I ® OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BASICS IN LEADING CITIES

The Federal Reserve B o a r d ' s c o n d i t i o n statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member
"banks i n l e a d i n g c i t i e s on August 27 shows decreases f o r t h e week of $14,000,000
i n loans and i n v e s t m e n t s , $21,000,000 i n n e t demand d e p o s i t s and $4,000,000 i n
"borrowings from Federal r e s e r v e banks, and an i n c r e a s e of $31,000,000 i n time
deposits.
Loans on s e c u r i t i e s , which a t a l l r e p o r t i n g "banks were $62,000,000 above
the p r e v i o u s week's t o t a l , i n c r e a s e d $75,000,000 i n the New York d i s t r i c t ,
$8,000,000 i n the Boston d i s t r i c t and $7.000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t , and dec l i n e d $12,000,000 i n the Kansas City d i s t r i c t . "All o t h e r " l o a n s d e c l i n e d
$4-2,000,000 i n the New York d i s t r i c t , $7,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t ,
$o,000,000 i n the San Francisco d i s t r i c t and $64,000,000 a t a l l r e p o r t i n g "banks.
Holdings of U. S. Government s e c u r i t i e s d e c l i n e d $12,000,000 i n the New

aggregated $40,000,000 on August 27, r e p r e s e n t i n g a n e t r e d u c t i o n of $4,000,000
