R. 28k For immediate release Board of Governors of the f e d e r a l Reserve System September 12, I9UU Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks in Leading C i t i e s The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in 101 leading c i t i e s shows the f o l l o w i n g p r i n c i p a l changes for the week ended September 6 1 Decreases of $229,000,000 i n holdings of United States Government o b l i g a t i o n s and $911,000,000 i n United S t a t e s Government d e p o s i t s , and increases of $372,000,000 in demand d e p o s i t s adjusted and $187*000,000 in deposits credited to domestic banks. Holdings of Treasury b i l l s declined $12$,000,000 in New York City, $29,000,000 in the Chicago D i s t r i c t , $13,000,000 each in the Cleveland and Minneapolis Dist r i c t s , and $163,000,000 at a l l reporting banks. Holdings of Treasury c e r t i f i cates of indebtedness declined $ 5 6 , 0 0 0 , 0 0 0 . Demand deposits adjusted increased $239*000,000 in New York City, $^1,000,000 i n the Boston D i s t r i c t , $33,000,000 in the Philadelphia D i s t r i c t , $31,000,000 i n the Cleveland D i s t r i c t , and $372,000,000 at a l l reporting member banks. Time deposits increased in a l l d i s t r i c t s and the t o t a l increase at a l l reporting member banks was $39*000,000. United States Government deposits declined in a l l d i s t r i c t s and the t o t a l decrease was $911,000,000.
