OF MEMBER BJffiKS III LEADING CITIES The Federal Reserve Board's condition statement of 660 r e p o r t i n g member tanks i n leading c i t i e s as of October 26 shows decreases of $36,000,000 i n loans ^nd discounts, $19,000,000 i n investments, $43,000,000 i n net demand d e p o s i t s , $53,000,000 in Government deposits and $16,000,000 i n "borrowings from the Federal Reserve banks. Loans on stocks and "bonds, including United S t a t e s Government o b l i g a t i o n s , were $14,000,000 above the previous week's t o t a l i n the Cleveland d i s t r i c t and $20,000,000 above at a l l r e p o r t i n g banks. All other loans and discounts declined $56,000,000 during the week, decreases of $28,000,000 being r e p o r t e d by banks i n the Cleveland d i s t r i c t and $12,000,000 and $9,000,000 by banks i n the San Francisco and Chicago d i s t r i c t s , r e s p e c t i v e l y . Holdings of United States' s e c u r i t i e s decreased $13,000,000 and of other s e c u r i t i e s $c,000,000. The p r i n c i p a l changes i n holdings of other s e c u r i t i e s were a decline of $10,000,000 in the Cleveland d i s t r i c t and an increase of $8,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t . Net demand d e p o s i t s were $35,000,000 below the t o t a l reported a week ago in the New York d i s t r i c t and $48,000,000 below at a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Government d e p o s i t s declined $58,000,000, a l l d i s t r i c t s p a r t i c i p a t i n g i n the r e duction. Borrowings from the Federal reserve banks were $16,000,000 below the October 19 f i g u r e , the p r i n c i p a l changes in t h i s item including i n c r e a s e s of $12,000,000, and $11,000,000 i n the Boston and New York d i s t r i c t s , respectively, and decreases of $13,000,000 i n the Cleveland d i s t r i c t , $7,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t and $5,000,000 each i n the Richmond, Kansas City and San Francisco d i s t r i c t s .
