For immediate r e l e a s e CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES The F e d e r a l Reserve B o a r d ' s c o n d i t i o n statement of weekly r e p o r t i n g member "banks i n 91 l e a d i n g c i t i e s on October 1% shows i n c r e a s e s f o r the week of $30,000,000 i n t o t a l loans and investments and $ l 6 l , 0 0 0 , 0 0 0 i n n e t demand d e p o s i t s and a decrease of $162,000,000 i n Government d e p o s i t s . The s t a t e m e n t has been r e v i s e d to show s e p a r a t e l y , and by F e d e r a l Reserve d i s t r i c t s , loans to brokers and d e a l e r s i n New York and o u t s i d e New York, l o a n s on s e c u r i t i e s to o t h e r s , a c c e p t a n c e s and commercial p a p e r , loans on r e a l e s t a t e , and obl i g a t i o n s f u l l y g u a r a n t e e d b o t h as to p r i n c i p a l and i n t e r e s t by the United S t a t e s Government. In view of the new c l a s s i f i c a t i o n of l o a n s the memorandum items h e r e t o f o r e appearing a t the bottom of the statement of c o n d i t i o n of r e p o r t i n g member banks i n New York City, r e l a t i n g to loans on s e c u r i t i e s to b r o k e r s and d e a l e r s , has been e l i m i n a t e d from t h a t s t a t e m e n t . The statement p u b l i s h e d l a s t Thursday, which i s r q i s s u e d h e r e w i t h in r e v i s e d form, showed t h e t o t a l amount of b r o k e r s ' loans made by New York City banks f o r t h e i r own account as $626,000,000, of which ( a s shown i n the r e v i s e d s t a t e m e n t ) $576,000,000 r e p r e s e n t e d l o a n s to b r o k e r s and d e a l e r s in New York City and $50,000,000 to b r o k e r s and d e a l e r s o u t s i d e of New York C i t y . Of the $132,000,000 loans to b r o k e r s and d e a l e r s made by weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks i n New York C i t y f o r t h e account of o u t - o f - t o w n banks ( a s shown i n the statement i s s u e d l a s t Thursday), $130,000,000 was made f o r the account of weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks o u t s i d e New York C i t y .
