H.4.2 BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM (For Immediate Release) October 19, i960 CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER B A M S IN LEADING CITIES The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in leading cities shows the following principal changes for the week ended October 12: Decreases of $143 million in loans adjusted,; $237 million in holdings of Treasury "bills, $354 million in reserve "balances with Federal Reserve Banks, and $1, 4l6 million in U. S. Government demand deposits, and increases of $385 million in demand deposits adjusted and $247 million in demand deposits credited to domestic "banks. Commercial and industrial loans increased in most districts and a total of $126 million. Loans to "brokers and dealers for purchasing or carrying U. S. Government and other securities decreased $162 million. Loans to noribank financial institutions decreased $56 million; and other loans decreased $38 million. Borrowings of weekly reporting member "banks from Federal Reserve Banks increased $24 million and "borrowings from others increased $26 million. Loans to domestic commercial hanks decreased $77 million.
