Condition of Weekly Retorting Member Banks 1ft 101 Leading C i t i e s
The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks i n 101 leading
c i t i e s shows t h e following p r i n c i p a l changes f o r the week ended October l i t I n creases of $37,000,000 i n commercial, i n d u s t r i a l and a g r i c u l t u r a l l o a n s ,
$61,000,000 i n Treasury b i l l s , and $145*000,000 i n demand deposits—adjusted.
Commercial, i n d u s t r i a l and a g r i c u l t u r a l loans increased i n n e a r l y a l l
d i s t r i c t s , the p r i n c i p a l i n c r e a s e s being $10,000,000 i n New York City and
$4,000,000 each i n t h e Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago d i s t r i c t s .
Holdings of United S t a t e s Treasury b i l l s i n c r e a s e d $22,000,000 i n New
York City, $20,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t , $10,000,000 i n the Boston d i s t r i c t , and $61,000,000 at a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Holdings of Treasury notes
declined $10,000,000 i n New York City and $2,000,000 at a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks.
Holdings of United S t a t e s Government bonds declined $3,000,000. Holdings of o b l i gations guaranteed by the United S t a t e s Government showed l i t t l e change f o r the
week. Holdings of "Other s e c u r i t i e s " declined $25,000,000 i n New York City and
$19,000,000 at a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks.
Demand deposits—adjusted increased i n a l l d i s t r i c t s , t h e aggregate i n crease being $145,000,000 and t h e p r i n c i p a l i n c r e a s e s by d i s t r i c t s being
$27,000,000 i n the Chicago d i s t r i c t , $25,000,000 i n the Kansas City d i s t r i c t ,
$16,000,000 i n t h e Dallas d i s t r i c t , $13,000,000 i n the S t . Louis d i s t r i c t and
$12,000,000 each i n the Boston and Richmond d i s t r i c t s . Time deposits increased

$6,000,000.

Deposits c r e d i t e d t o domestic banks declined $16,000,000 i n New York City
and $23,000,000 at a l l r e p o r t i n g member banks. Deposits credited to f o r e i g n banks
increased $23,000,000 i n New York City and $29,000,000 at a l l r e p o r t i n g member
banks.
Weekly r e p o r t i n g member banks r e p o r t e d no borrowings on October 11,
