nonconsolidated nonbank subsidiaries of the holding company.
17. Credit extended by foreign branches of domestically chartered weekly reporting banks to nonbank U.S. residents. Consists mainly of commercial and
industrial loans, but includes an unknown amount of credit extended to other than nonfinancial businesses.
18. For domestically chartered banks data are for the Wednesday preceding the date indicated.
19. Trading account securities and other trading account assets are not available on a district basis. They are included in other assets.
NOTE: Weekly reporting domestic banks acquired $0.9 billion in assets and liabilities of thrift instititutions in the week ending October 6, 1993. The major asset items affected
were (in billions): cash balances and due from depository institutions, $0.2; real estate loans, all other, $0.6; and other asets, $0.1. The major liability items affected were:
nontransaction deposits-IPC, $0.3; borrowings, $0.4; other liabilities, $0.1; and the residual, $0.1. A reclassification at U.S. agencies and branches of foreign banks the week
ending October 6, 1993 increased real estate loans $0.1 billion and reduced commercial and industrial loans to U.S. industries the same amount.
