STATEMENT FOR TIE PRESS For immediate r e l e a s e Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System November 9, 193^ Condition of Weekly Reporting: Member Banks in 101 Leading C i t i e s The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in 101 leading c i t i e s on November 4 shows decreases f o r the week of $71,000,000 i n t o t a l loans and i n v e s t ments, $134,000,000 in demand deposits-adjusted, $23,000,000 in time d e p o s i t s , $72,000,000 in Government d e p o s i t s , $14,000,000 in d e p o s i t s credited to foreign banks and $63,030,000 i n reserve balances with Federal Reserve banks , and increases of $146,000,000 in d e p o s i t s credited to domestic banks and $64,000,000 i n balances with domestic banks, Loans to brokers and d e a l e r s in Now York City increased $10,000,000, loans to brokers and d e a l e r s outside New York increased $5,000,000, and loans on s e c u r i t i e s to others (except banks) declined $2,000,000. Holdings of acceptances and commercial paper bought increased $4,000,000, r e a l e s t a t e loans showed no net change for the week, loans to banks increased $1,000,000, and "Other loans" declined $10,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t and $14,000,000 a t a l l reporting member banks» Holdings of United S t a t e s Government d i r e c t o b l i g a t i o n s declined $15,000,000 in the New York d i s t r i c t , $10,000,000 in the Richmond d i s t r i c t and $24,000,000 a t a l l reporting member banks.
