Condition of Weekly Reporting Member Banks in Leading Cities
The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in 101 leading
cities shows the following principal changes for the week ended October 29: Decreases of |lli3,000,000 in reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks, #55,000,000
in balances with domestic banks, $12l+,000,000 in demand deposits^-adjusted, and
#101,000,000 in deposits credited to domestic banks, and an increase of $55,000,000
in United States Government deposits.
Commercial, industrial and agricultural loans declined $17,000,000 in New
York City and $2,000,000 at all reporting member banks, and increased slightly in
most of the other districts.
Holdings of Treasury bills declined #39,000,000 in New York City and
$20,000,000 at all reporting member banks, and increased $20,000,000 in the Chicago
district. Holdings of Treasury notes increased #23,000,000 in New York City and
^22,000,000 at all reporting member banks.
Demand deposits-adjusted declined $207,000,000 in New York City and
$12^,000,000 at all reporting member banks, and increased $50,000,000 in the
Chicago district. United States Government deposits increased 11+8,000,000 in New
York City and $55,000,000 at all reporting member banks.
Deposits credited to domestic banks declined $65,000,000 in New York City
and $101,000,000 at all reporting member banks.
A summary of the principal assets and liabilities of reporting member banks,
together with changes for the week and the year ended October 29, I9I4JL, follows:
