BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM Novmeber 29, 1950 (For Immediate Release) CONDITION OF WEEKLY REPORTING MEMBER BANKS IN LEADING CITIES The condition statement of weekly reporting member banks in leading cities shows the following principal changes for the week ended November 22: An increase of $247,000,000 in loans; decreases of $260,000,000 in reserve balances with Federal Reserve Banks, $394,000,000 in balances with domestic banks, $230,000,000 in United States Government deposits, and $968,000,000 in demand deposits credited to domestic banks; and increases of $589,000,000 in demand deposits adjusted and $245,000,000 in borrowings. Commercial, industrial, and agricultural loans increased $30,000,000 in New York City, $10,000,000 in the St. Louis District, and $9,000,000 in the Dallas District, and they decreased $9,000,000 in the Cleveland District; the net increase at all reporting member banks was $70,000,000. Real estate loans increased $24,000,000. Holdings of Treasury certificates of indebtedness increased $19,000,000. Holdings of United States Government bonds decreased $47,000,000. Holdings of "other securities" increased $49,000,000. Demand deposits adjusted increased $339,000,000 in New York City, $131,000,000 in the Chicago District, and $59,000,000 in the Cleveland District. Time deposits decreased $57,000,000. United States Government deposits and demand deposits credited to domestic banks decreased in all districts. Borrowings increased $194,000,000 in New York City.
